What type of T4 low in cost to run in the Netherlands?
What type of T4 low in cost to run in the Netherlands?
Hi all
I do not know if I am in the right section of the forum with my questions. So if I am not, perhaps a moderator can put me in the right direction.
My Brother in law is an Englishman living and working in the Netherlands. In Bergschenhoek to be precies. As he is in need of a new car I suggested a T4 to him obviously and he quite likes them to but is put off by high Diesel Prices.
What I would like to know is which T4 Engine Typ will be the most reasonable one to run in Holland? Ie Road Tax ? Insurance ? Fuel?
Would be great if someone could answer me these questions.
thanks Uwe

What will his needs be, and how many kilometers/year will he drive?
...have you ever noticed that some people never have the money to do it right, but can always find the money to do it twice?...
Re: What type of T4 low in cost to run in the Netherlands?
Sorry I should have mentioned that of course.
He has got 4 children likes to go SAP a lot with his board i believe and at least once a year to England and once a year to Portugal and Spain. So I think we are talking about 10000 kms.

Hi Uwe,
in my opinion it's by far the best idea to buy a Camper t4 , he's able to use it as a daily transporter and for more persons.
The (road) tax for a camper is really affordable , I pay € 60.- per 3 months for a diesel t4. that's because you pay only 25 % of the normal tax rate for a camper.
But you have to dive in these regulations first to check the rules for this.
Enginewise , I don't know maybe the others can advise you on that.
good luck

thanks for that . That is very useful. Would a standard Multivan already be classed as a Camper?

I am confused about the road tax now. Your case is quite ok if you really pay 60.- per 3 month.
thanks
Re: What type of T4 low in cost to run in the Netherlands?
If you want low exploitation costs, go for a G3- LPG Van.
With today's expansionary high diesel prices, this is a good alternative.
A 2.5l petrol motorised T4 is a good solid base to start.
This type of LPG equipment, for a 2.5l doesn't brake the bank.
Regards, Geert

Re: What type of T4 low in cost to run in the Netherlands?
Thanks a lot you guys so far. Giving me a few ideas.
Geert I take it you mean the 5 cylinder straight engine. Not the V6.
What would that be on road tax and insurance if that would be registered as a camper?
regards Uwe

Re: What type of T4 low in cost to run in the Netherlands?
The Road Tax for my T4 California (2088kg, Diesel) is 149 Euro per three months.
That is the so called "camper-tariff". Costs can vary a few Euro's depending on the province you live in.
Pls. note there are requirements you have to meet when you want to apply for the "camper tariff" (bed, kitchen, standing height etc.)

Re: What type of T4 low in cost to run in the Netherlands?
Sorry Uwe,
I made a mistake in what you have to pay for a campervan T4 it's probably around € 150.- per three months
